Detention Ministry Project – Bible Donation

Detention_Visitation_MinistryAs detained immigrants await the court’s decision on whether they will be allowed to remain in the United States, they often rely on their faith and God’s grace to sustain their hope. During this time of fear and insecurity, it is vital that they have the materials they need to practice their faith. It is for this reason that Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS) established the Detention Ministry Project.

Through the generous support of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML), LIRS is providing 4,100 Bibles to immigrant men and women held in detention facilities. The Bibles have been specially printed as paperback to meet the detention center specifications and are provided in French, Portuguese, and Spanish.

LIRS hopes these Bibles will offer comfort to immigrants seeking relief and mercy, and that they serve as a source of strength to the recipients.
