I was amazed and encouraged when the Cross Trails Ministry in Texas approached us earlier this year with the concept of sponsoring a refugee family’s travel to the U.S. for resettlement.
Cross Trails decided to use their 2012 summer camps as an opportunity to teach their 2,000 campers about the plight of refugees around the world, and show them how they can make a real difference for a refugee family. The camp offerings would be used to cover the travel costs of a refugee family so they could start a new life here!
As you’ll have read in this e-newsletter, the campers did make a real difference with their support, and the Endolecha family has now started a new life thanks to their support!
Hundreds more families like the Endolecha family have also been given hope and dignity this year because of your faithful prayers and support. As you’ll have read in the Summer Campaign update story, your support for our Summer Campaign helped 3,010 refugees during the three months alone! And thousands more will be helped over the present holiday season as we strive to assist, reunite, and welcome refugees and refugee families from all over the world.
I hope you’ll be encouraged by the story about the Thanksgiving Dinner that St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Grand Forks has organized this year. What a great way to make refugee families feel welcome in their new communities during the holiday season.
Friend, as always, thank you so much for your support and commitment this year. This work is only possible because of the passion of many people like you, and I am grateful for all that you have made possible for refugees and immigrants through your gifts and prayers.
Yours in faith,
