Higher300You already know LIRS helps refugees and immigrants as they go through the process of resettlement here in America. What you might not know is that we have a special mentorship program called Higher to help train and equip resettled refugees so they’re ready for employment in their new home community!

The Higher program was created in 1997 under the name RefugeeWorks to give resettled refugees training and technical assistance to find employment through partner organizations. In 2012, RefugeeWorks changed its name to Higher and expanded its services to corporations looking for workplace solutions that capitalize on the diversity and reliability of new American populations.

Higher is uniquely suited to offer creative and flexible staffing from a proven pool of diverse, adaptable, and dependable workers. New Americans bring a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and reliability to both their employers and their neighborhoods.

“The refugee program has been a terrific source of employees and has enhanced our diverse workforce here at Lake Powell as well as at other Aramark Parks & Destinations properties,” says Donna Gold, Regional Human Resources Director for Aramark.

“The individuals from this program have worked in some of our key hospitality positions and several have been commended for a terrific work ethic and positive attitude that is inspirational.”

LIRS programs and initiatives like Higher are made possible only by the generosity and prayers of friends and supporters, who are passionate to help new Americans successfully begin their new lives here. For more information about the Higher program, and how you can be involved or support it, please visit the Higher website and Like them on Facebook.
