An unassuming dry erase board in their Dallas office displays a carefully organized chart of arrivals. To the untrained eye it looks like a calendar with cryptic notes. To the expert staff, it describes the unique situation of each arriving person and family, signaling exactly what is needed for them to be safe, healthy and successful.
Carol Roxburgh, CEO, and her teams in five cities strive to meet the unique needs of each arrival with professional dedication and hearts as big as Texas. Many of the staff members are former refugees, children of refugees, or asylees, so they are well-equipped to offer the voice of experience to new arrivals. All of the staff members have a deep commitment to walking with migrants and refugees to meet their legal and social service needs.
In addition to resettling refugees, RST provides immigration services, helps people seeking asylum and assists victims of human trafficking. Carol and her teams are active in outreach, supporting churches as they sponsor refugees, collecting in-kind donations, and networking community resources.
LIRS is deeply grateful for RST’s partnership, leadership, and model of excellence. www.rstx.org
