Justice goes hand-in-hand with mercy in following God’s call to care for our neighbors. For LIRS staff and supporters, seeking justice for migrants and refugees means bold advocacy to create systemic change in how the United States treats immigrants and refugees. We engage in dialogue with the White House, Congress, and federal agencies in coalition with other faith-based, service, ethnic, and immigrant rights organizations to reform laws and promote fair and humane policies that welcome newcomers to the United States.

Grassroots advocacy is critically important to our advocacy strategy. The support of local groups and individual advocates adds strength to our voice on Capitol Hill. Lutheran and other faith-based advocates partner with LIRS to visit members of Congress, write op-eds, hold vigils and rallies, and send thousands of messages to lawmakers.
